How I Was Healed of Diabetic Peripheral NeuropathyReversing Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Hi everyone and welcome to my Stop the Pain of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy website.

Reversing diabetic peripheral neuropathy has been a passion of mine ever since I became disabled with it more than five years ago. From a quality of life standpoint, I thought my good years on earth ended in 2015.

I seldom got out of bed and virtually never left my bedroom. It simply hurt too much. The medicines prescribed for me kept me sleeping for sometimes 18 hours a day. At least when I was sleeping I wasn’t in pain.

Then I decided to fight. I learned all I could about peripheral neuropathy reversal.  I purchased numerous products and books to try to improve my life as well as my happiness.  I was determined to get my quality of life back.  It took time, but eventually I won.

The more you learn about diabetic peripheral neuropathy the easier it becomes to control the pain associated with it.

In my journey I learned early on that the mainstream medical community was not very helpful in teaching me what I needed to know about my condition. My doctors, who had never experienced neuropathy, asked questions, ordered tests and wrote prescriptions.

My treatment was almost entirely based on treating pain with powerful and expensive prescription medications designed to treat the symptom only and not to heal the cause of the pain.  I was told time and again there was no treatment that could reverse nerve damage.

Board certified neurological chiropractors nearly always told me my symptoms of diabetic peripheral neuropathy likely could be reversed if I was willing to make an all-out commitment to making it happen.  I was.  I did.  Read More

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy Treatments

Current therapeutic treatment possibilities for diabetic peripheral neuropathy can be divided into two groups: pathogenetically oriented and symptomatic diabetic peripheral neuropathy treatments.

Symptomatic therapy is basically relieving the pain by stopping the symptoms with powerful drugs. Pathogenetically oriented and holistic therapies focus on the cause(s) of the pain and look for solutions to stop the pain by healing the cause.

In recent years more clinical research has been done on holistic treatments. The most important component of etiology-based treatment is the stabilization of glycemic control. Based on efficacy and safety data benfotiamine and alpha-lipoic acid should now be considered as first choices among pathogenetically oriented treatments of diabetic neuropathy, according to a report  from First Department of Medicine, University of Szeged, Szeged, Hungary.

Some doctors are now recommending a combination of symptomatic and holistic therapies as the best treatment for diabetic peripheral neuropathy.  This is where I began.  Read More
